Teen Buys Valentine’s Day Flowers For All 834 Girls At His High School

Hayden Godfrey, a 17-year-old senior at Sky View High School in Utah made this Valentine’s Day a little sweeter. Godfrey purchased a carnation flower for all of the girls in his Utah school. In middle school, he had his heart broken when he saw girls go home empty-handed on Valentine’s Day, his mom Erin told ABC News. “He wanted every girl to feel joy.” The teen with a heart of gold worked at a McDonalds, a Mexican restaurant and a grocery store for more than a year and a half to save up the $450 to buy the flowers. On Thursday Godfrey, with the help of 20 volunteers went to each classroom and handed a carnation to every female student. Godfrey told 2News that he started planning the surprise when he was a freshman. “I thought as many people as possible should be happy on Valentine’s Day,” he said. “I don’t think anything can compare to seeing every girl in your life holding a flower as they walk through the halls,” Godfrey wrote on Facebook. As for Godfrey himself, he’ll be spending the day with his girlfriend, Lilyan Sharp, of six months. Sharp told ABC News Hayden is “very special” and that every girl walked out of school with “a giant smile on their face.”
